College food is almost a universal complaint. We say almost, because almost no one at St. Olaf complains about the food. The award-winning chefs of Bon Appétit, our campus food service, create a restaurant-style experience where choice and freshness abound. Entrees range from Midwestern favorites to pan-Asian and South American cuisine. An amazing salad bar, vegetarian entrees and vegan options are always available. And if your tastes run to the basics, you’ll find multiple varieties of pizza, pastas, grilled chicken breast sandwiches and cheeseburgers on the menu daily.
St. Olaf is committed to buying locally grown foods whenever possible, including vegetables and herbs from STOGROW, our student-run organic farm, meat and poultry raised without antibiotics or growth hormones, apples from an orchard just minutes from campus and dairy products supplied by Deja Moo, a collective of Midwestern, family-owned farms; fresh, healthy, and delicious.
Several meal plans are available to provide flexibility in how student take advantage of the food service. Flex dollars included in meal plans can be used at both the Caf and the Cage as well.
Stav Hall, our main dining facility, offers a wide variety of food stations, from Home Cooking, to Bowls, Grains, the Grill, and Salads. Look for great soups, pizzas and terrific desserts every day.
The Cage, our campus coffee shop and grill, offers all-day breakfast, hot and cold sandwiches, soups, salads, sushi, French fries and plate-sized cookies in a lively setting.
The Lion’s Pause, the student entertainment center, offers afternoon and late-night snacks — the Pause pizza is one of the best – and cheapest! – in town.
