Admitted Student Days FAQ

We are looking forward to your visit. Please see the information below for detailed information about the visit programs and contact information should you have other more specific questions.

How to register for any Admitted Student Day activity
The on-line registration form is available at

Friday, April 12, and Friday, April 19, reception for parents hosted by President David Anderson
Parents of admitted students are invited to attend a wine and hors d’oeuvre reception in St. Paul, Minnesota, hosted by President David Anderson on Friday, April 12, or Friday, April 19. The reception will run from 5 – 8 p.m. and will be held at the St. Paul Hotel, 310 Market Street, St. Paul. The St. Paul Hotel is 10 minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and about 45 minutes north of the St. Olaf campus.

A separate invitation to your parents will follow, and a special St. Olaf rate of $132/night (plus applicable taxes) is available if you are interested in staying overnight. This offer is available for the nights of April 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20. To reserve a room, please call the St. Paul Hotel directly at (800) 292-9292 and ask for the St. Olaf College room block. These rooms will be held until March 22 for the first Admitted Student Day program and until March 29 for the second Admitted Student Day program.

Campus Visits (including class visits) prior to Admitted Student Days
Many admitted students and their guests (usually one or two family members) elect to attend classes (students only), meet faculty, coaches, or conductors on the Friday before Admitted Student Days. We are eager to assist in crafting a schedule that meets your needs. We’ll have a number of class visit options for Friday, April 12 (before the Saturday, April 13, Admitted Student Day program) or Friday, April 19 (before the Saturday, April 20, Admitted Student Day program). Please use the registration form to indicate what you would like to do while on campus. If you wish to attend a class, please plan to arrive on campus no later than 12 noon (and there is a varied selection of classes available that morning as well).

Overnight visits for Admitted Student Days
You can indicate your interest in an overnight visit on the online registration form. You will be “camping out” in your host student’s room so you should plan to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel, and any required toiletry/shower items. We ask that you plan to arrive between 5 and 9 p.m. (if the Friday overnight visit is your first event on Friday) and we will also arrange for you to meet him/her before dinner. If you are already on campus earlier in the day, we will schedule your meeting with the overnight host accordingly. Please submit your request for a Friday visit no later than April 3 (for the April 13 Admitted Student Day program) or April 10 (for the April 20 Admitted Student Day program).

Admitted Student Day program on campus
The April 13 and April 20 Admitted Student Day program is very similar each day (same session offerings, some different panelists and presenters). The day begins with check-in at the Buntrock Commons, breakfast in Stav Hall, and our formal program begins at 9:00 a.m. The day includes a variety of information sessions by faculty, staff and students, lunch and tours. The final session ends at 2:45 p.m. More detailed information about the program is available at
