Supplemental Instruction (SI)

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program offered through the ASC.  SI is a peer facilitated, collaborative learning process offered in some historically difficult courses. The current courses supported by SI are listed below. SI is a long standing and internationally recognized program that assists students in learning and retaining course information, is statistically proven to increase student grades by one letter grade, and enhances course retention and persistence.

All students enrolled in SI supported courses are strongly encouraged to attend any and all SI sessions throughout the semester. SI Leaders are St. Olaf students who are trained to help other students learn and retain course material. SI Leaders are also students who have previously taken and excelled in the course. In general, SI sessions are approximately an hour in length and happen three to six times a week. SI Leaders collaborate with faculty and Academic Support Center staff to create session strategies and assist students. SI Sessions are anonymous from faculty and attendance is only recorded for research purposes.

SI Sessions will BEGIN the first week of class and END with the start of Finals Week.  SI Sessions will not take place during College Breaks.
Session Days/Times for current SI Sessions can be found here!
