Wall Street Journal notes St. Olaf’s success at providing career data
March 17, 2014
A Wall Street Journal story examining the push for data on how college graduates do in the job market notes that St. Olaf College provides ample information on recent graduates.
The college’s Outcomes initiative includes a robust, searchable database showing where 92 percent of students are within one year after graduation, the paper points out.
The database is one of several steps the college has taken to clearly outline the return on investing in a St. Olaf education. Another recent Wall Street Journal article noted that St. Olaf is among a handful of schools using data to demonstrate the value of the education students receive.
“We are in many ways a black box. People are hungry for information,” St. Olaf President David R. Anderson ’74 tells the Wall Street Journal, adding that schools need to share outcomes “as part of our institutional credibility and integrity.”
