The Buntrock Commons is the community center for the St. Olaf campus, serving all of the members of the college family – students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, friends and supporters alike.
The Commons, which was opened in November 1999, is named in honor of the Buntrock family: Dean L. Buntrock ’55 and his wife, Rosemarie; his brother, Clayton ’57; and his children, Dana, Margot and Charley. The Buntrocks provided the $26-million lead gift – the largest single gift ever made to St. Olaf or any other Lutheran college in the United States – to construct this fantastic facility.
