Harambee unites students from varied backgrounds and cultures to recognize political, cultural and social issues on campus. Harambee not only supports students, but also encourages them to recognize, celebrate and share the different cultures, which come together through this organization. Harambee hears the concerns of the multicultural groups on campus and conveys those concerns to the student senate. Harambee’s goal is to promote multicultural awareness, activities and relations at St. Olaf.

What is Harambee?

Harambee means “Welcome” in Swahili and that is exactly how I want you to feel when you attend the vast multitude of amazing multicultural events here on campus.

As president of Harambee I will work very hard, alongside my VP, Juan-Ita, to attend as many events as possible (and we hope to get to them all!) and we would love for you to join us. This group will NOT have intense, regular meetings, however if you are interested in getting even more involved with the multicultural organizations please let either one of us know because we have some fabulous ideas that we need some help with.

This website gives you access to all 11 of the multicultural student organizations in one lovely place. I will update the calendar, the individual pages and hopefully embellish it even more to make it work for our community.

I cannot wait to see what this year will bring and I hope you are as excited as I am to see the events planned by our incredible peers.
