OleChess Summer Tournament

This chess tournament is open to all USCF rated players, regardless if they are a camper or non-camper (to become a USCF member, click here)! The tournament is great for area players and for players who are coming into camp a day early. It is a one-day USCF event with prizes! We are also offering a reduced entry fee, no-prize option for campers who are arriving during the day. The event qualifies for the Chess Magnet School Junior Grand Prix!

The tournament is 4 rounds, with a time control of G/60 with 5 second delay.

Location: St. Olaf College, Buntrock Commons, Black and Gold Ballroom, 1520 St. Olaf Ave., Northfield, MN 55057

Registration/Check-in: 9 – 9:45 a.m.

Rounds: 10:00 a.m., 12:45 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 5:45 p.m.

Standard entry fee: $25 in advance, $40 at the door
A non-prize-eligible entry fee is available to OleChess Camp participants only. The fee is $2/game in advance, $5/game at the door. The director will award points for unplayed games in a way to create reasonable pairings. One half point bye is available for the standard entry fee.

$1000 prizes based on 40 standard entries, minimum 2/class
1st – $250
2nd – $150
3rd – $110
4th – $70
Class X, A, B, C, D, E /Below/Unrated: $70 each

Many restaurants are available within a 5 minute drive. There will be a coordinated sandwich delivery order for participants without transportation.

No smoking. No computers. The site is wheelchair accessible.

Early housing is available for OleChess campers participating in the tournament. Please contact our office if you have questions regarding housing and transportation.
