About the Scholarship
Since its founding, St. Olaf College has had a tradition of enrolling talented students from
diverse backgrounds. Since 1989, St. Olaf has chosen to support and encourage the work of
TRiO Programs by helping to fund and support campus-based programs for Student Support
Services, Upward Bound, GEAR UP and Educational Talent Search, as well as the TRiO
McNair Scholars program. The St. Olaf Access Scholarship is a four-year scholarship valued
at $32,000 ($8,000/year, renewable annually).
Students who are or have been involved with TRiO or similar college access organizations (Gear Up, Fulfillment Fund, Multicultural Excellence Program, AVID, College Possible, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
Also, applicants who are first-generation (neither parent attended a four- year college) students and/or low-income may be eligible. Finally, students who are living with a disability are encouraged to apply.
All applicants should have demonstrated success inside and outside of the classroom.
How to Apply
Students interested in being considered for the Access Scholarship must submit a complete
application for admission no later than January 15, 2013 (by November 15 for ED 1
candidates) for fullest consideration. All applicants who indicate an interest in merit
scholarships on the Common Application are automatically considered for a St. Olaf Access
Only those candidates who also wish to be considered for need-based financial aid must submit the and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
