About the Scholarship
True communities have a memory or a set of shared stories that helps to shape identity and
character. So, too, do institutions like St. Olaf, which embraces a strong tradition of service to others. The college is and has always been committed to providing a rich educational experience that fosters exploration of faith, and inspires graduates to find ways do well while doing good. To this end, we encourage and reward the efforts put forth by our applicants in making the world a better place through work in their churches and communities.
Students who have been active student leaders in their church and/or in their communities are encouraged to apply for the Service Leadership Scholarship. Recipients of this award are expected to continue their participation in service to others during their time at St. Olaf, either on campus, or in the local community. This award is $8,000 per year and is renewable for the remaining three years, based upon demonstrated involvement in such
activities during each year.
