My research centers on representations of torture in fiction about the Algerian War of Independence. I am also interested in 20th century narratives of torture; trauma and memory theory; the relationship between fiction and ethics; and the literary and social legacies of colonial and postcolonial violence in the Maghreb and France.

Outside of the classroom and the library, I enjoy hiking, dance parties, reading crime fiction, and talking about, and preparing food.
