  • Overall responsibility for the functions of the department.

  • Primary responsibility for the management of the college benefit programs. These include health, life, disability, accidental death and dismemberment, medical and dependent care reimbursement accounts, basic and supplemental retirement accounts, employee assistance program and the tuition benefit.

  • Lead interface with legal counsel regarding employment law, wage and hour and employee relations and benefits.

  • Management of staffing process for exempt positions (does not include faculty positions).

  • Equal employment officer, Title IX officer and sexual harassment officer.

  • Consults and advises supervisors and managers on interviewing, supervision and discipline issues.

  • Manages regulatory compliance issues, including Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Parental Leave Act, Cobra continuation, medical and personal leaves.

  • Assists employees with issues related to retirement.

Bill Goodman

  • Manages the classification and compensation for non-faculty employees;recommends and implements the annual salary increase program within budgetaryguidelines set by the College, classifies new and existing positions, tracks staff headcountand salary budgets.
  • Manages requests for compensation survey information; analyzes and summarizes surveyinformation and provides recommendations for pay and range adjustments.
  • Assists with the College’s benefits program.
  • Manages the Student Employment Coordinator and advises on processes and the program.
  • Manages and administers annual performance review process for all staff employees.
  • Consults and advises on employee relation issues.
  • Assists with other special projects as assigned.

 

Lacie Ausland

  • Assumes responsibility of staffing for all areas of the College.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the recruitment and selection process for non-faculty employees in accordance with all federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintains and develops recruiting sources locally, regionally and nationally with emphasis on voluntary affirmative action goals.
  • Writes and/or edits recruitment advertising and places ads; extends verbal employment offers and generates written offer letters.
  • Coordinates temporary work pool for short-term employment.
  • Maintains databases for tracking of applications and recruitment activities.
  • Tracks and maintains appropriate statistics for AA/EEO, turnover, and other human resources functions.

 

Wendi Busscher

  • Maintains health and dental insurance plans.
  • Maintains database for retirees and Cobra participants.
  • Manages general ledger accounts associated with benefits.
  • Prepares monthly cost accounting reports for the health and dental plans itemizing insurance revenue and expenses.
  • Maintains group life and disability insurance plan.
  • Verifies employee elected deductions generated by the payroll process and remit payments.
  • Assists employees and retirees with questions regarding health and dental insurance.

 

Jessica Smisek

  • Performs receptionist duties, answers department phone line, distributes incoming mail.
  • Supports Director: Screens calls, manages calendar, schedules and communicates appointments. Sets up new employee orientation benefit appointments, creates benefit packet of information, coordinates information with payroll, verifies the return of all required employment forms.
  • Assists Employment Specialist: Fields questions about position openings and/or the actual online application process. Assists with setting up interview schedules and scheduling flight/transportation arrangements for interviewees. Performs HRIS data entry.
  • Preforms data entry associated with keeping benefit information correct and current. Assists with annual enrollment and collection of enrollment documents from employees.
  • Coordinates First Report of Injury and Workers Compensation. Maintains OSHA logs and prepares and submits Annual Summary Report.
  • Responsible for creating, updating, document storage, and archiving of department files.
  • Performs routine maintenance to website, updates online forms, coordinates and publishes monthly newsletter.

  • Coordinates with the Financial Aid Office to ensure proper oversight of the student employment program
  • Solicits and advocates for student employment positions from College departments
  • Reviews and approves student employment job descriptions
  • Determines and submits recommendation for student employment wage structure
  • Processes employment authorizations assuring accurate completion and appropriate authorizations are obtained
  • Collects, audits and maintains necessary employment documents such as the I-9, W-4. Manages student employment information including data input and reporting
  • Coordinates with Payroll Office to ensure timely and accurate processing of student payroll. Analyzes payroll reports to effectively monitor student earning levels and communicate to students and supervisors when work awards have been earned
  • Assigns incoming freshman work assignments
  • Recommends and/or conducts appropriate training sessions for student employment supervisors. Answers student employment related questions
  • Updates and maintains various means of communication with students (i.e. website, handbooks, correspondence, etc.)
