When is International student orientation?
Orientation is held August 25- August 29, 2014 for all degree-seeking students, international exchange students, and Third Culture Kids. Students will be introduced to St. Olaf College, immigration and visa regulations, U.S and St. Olaf campus culture, academic success, and campus resources.
What day do I have to arrive? Can I arrive before August 25, 2014?
All new international students should arrive in Northfield on Monday, August 25, 2014. Students arriving by air should book flights into the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) on Monday, August 25. Shuttles to the St. Olaf campus will be running every 2.5 hours through the day on the 25th. Shuttle times will be announced when the date gets closer. A St. Olaf representative will be at the airport to greet you and help you find the shuttle. Please select your shuttle pick-up time on your Pre-Arrival form. We regret that housing is not available at the college before August 25 (except for students involved in pre-season athletics).
Where will I meet the St. Olaf representative?
When you arrive at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) proceed to the Starbucks near the baggage claim located in Lindberg Terminal (Terminal 1). Please wait for your International Student Counselor (wearing a St. Olaf T-shirt or holding a St. Olaf welcome sign). If you are unable to locate the International Student Counselor please call the emergency phone number provided to you.
What airline is recommended?
We do not have a recommended airline, but note that Delta Airlines does have daily flights to Minneapolis from Amsterdam, London, Toronto, and Tokyo.
If I arrive by car, when and where should I go?
Plan to arrive on campus between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on August 25 and check-in at Buntrock Commons Crossroads. The International Student Coordinator and the International Student Counselors will be there to welcome you and bring you to your residence hall.
