The Multimedia Development Center was established in the summer of 2000, after St. Olaf College received a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for learning, teaching and technology. This Mellon grant funded expansion of technology and support services in several areas, one of which was the MDC.
For over a decade, the MDC was managed by Janet Cameron Collrin, who allowed it to grow into a center for creativity and growth. Janet received her BFA from Central Michigan University and a Masters degree in Design from the University of Minnesota. She began working at St. Olaf in September 1990 in the Academic Computing Center, and ten years later, when the Multimedia Development Center was founded, Janet took on the role of multimedia consultant and manager of the MDC. Janet saw the MDC through many years of development and changes as IT sought to expand its offerings and resources for faculty and students alike.
