Professor — Music Librarian
Christensen received a B.M. from Illinois State University, a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, and a Master’s degree in Musicology from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of the Music Library Association (has served as MLA Board member, Program Chair, and is currently a member of the Career Services and Development Committee), the Music Library Association’s Midwest Chapter (has served as Chapter Chair and is currently chairing the Bylaws Committee), and the Society for American Music. Research interests include information literacy in music and early twentieth-century American music. She has published articles in American Music, Notes, Research Strategies, and Reference and User Services quarterly.
Rachel Weiss, s the acting Music Librarian for this year. A native of East Peoria, Illinois, she got her BM in percussion performance from Millikin University in the soybean capital of the world (otherwise known as Decatur). She continued playing in small chamber ensembles and world music groups at West Virginia University, where she received a M.M. in music history, and then completed a Master of Library and Information Science at the University of Pittsburgh. She’s excited to be a new Ole and is looking forward to serving your information needs!
Kathy earned a B.A. in Music from the University of Southern Maine and graduated from the University at Buffalo’s Music Librarianship program with a Masters degree in Library and Information Science. She is an active member of the Music Library Association and has served on state and regional library committees. She is currently a member and former chair of the Southeast Library System’s Advisory Board. Kathy has taught music cataloging workshops at various Minnesota locations.
