Leslie Moore ’77 was appointed vice president for human resources in 2021. She oversees recruitment, hiring, compensation, benefits, and professional development for the college’s 500 staff, benefits for the faculty, and recruitment, placement, and development of student employees. Under her leadership, the HR team also provides onboarding and orientation for new staff employees, access to online professional development, resources to support effective supervision and performance evaluation,  and employee recognition programs.

Leslie came to St. Olaf in 2015 to direct the Piper Center for Vocation and Career, preceded by appointments as general counsel and director of operations for White Rabbit Gallery in Sydney, Australia; as partner and general counsel for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Australia; as regional legal counsel for Deloitte Consulting; and as a litigator and trial lawyer for the New York office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. She also served on the faculty at Yale University, where she co-directed its writing programs and taught British literature and nonfiction.

During her time as director of the Piper Center, Leslie and her colleagues in the Center developed and implemented a range of strategic initiatives that made St. Olaf a national leader in preparing students and alumni of all identities for meaningful work throughout their careers. Partnering with departments and offices across the college, she launched new programming and enhanced resources to support the development and long-term success of students of color, international students, first-generation students, students with disabilities, and other students from underrepresented groups.

Leslie completed a B.A. at St. Olaf College, and both a Ph.D. in English and a J.D. at Yale University.
