393 Theological Seminar:
The Weakness of God
Instructor – Gregory Walter
In a post-religious age, is it better for God to be weak than powerful? Should traditional claims about God’s power, eternity, and transcendence give way to God’s weakness, life in time, and immanence? Much is at stake in these claims. Is this God worth calling God anymore? Or is this how we ought to think of God in the first place? Students shall take up major contemporary and historical proposals, find some unlikely and unlooked for allies in this quest, and sort out a question for themselves by way of directed research.
