Student forum update
Last night in the Lion’s Pause student club, members of the Working Group and about 200 current students gathered in small-group sessions to talk about St. Olaf’s Title IX policies. Working Group members Kaelie Lund ’16 and Emma Lind ’17 did an outstanding job of organizing and facilitating the forum in a way that fostered open and productive dialogue.
We were inspired by the courage of students who shared their experiences, made thoughtful recommendations, and asked difficult questions about St. Olaf’s Title IX policies, procedures, practices, resources, and education.
We have a lot of work to do. That is clear from these direct conversations and from the many comments and suggestions we have received through the website.
We understand that the College needs to provide more education, greater accountability, and better communication – in addition to improved policies. The Working Group is committed to this process. The conversations with students and the comments on the website continue to inform our Working Group members’ thinking through this critical study and listening phase. If you have not yet shared your comments, ideas or concerns, we want to hear from you.
Thank you to every student who shared their evening with us. We are grateful for your candor, good ideas, and time.
And thank you for your continued prayers and support.
