Connect for Success (CFS) seeks to support and encourage first-generation, first-year students at St. Olaf College. Students in the program have the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff, and peer mentors to build a network of support. Students are invited to monthly community-building events, an off-campus retreat, and programming designed for first-generation college students. Students completing the program will receive a $50 bookstore scholarship. Connect for Success participants will also be invited to participate in the St. Olaf Orientation to Academics and Resources (SOAR), which connects students to resources that help facilitate a smooth transition to college. There is no cost to participate in the Connect for Success program.
In addition to programming tailored to the specific needs of first-generation, first-year students, a series of campus-wide events and programming are planned to support all first-generation students at St. Olaf College. This program is a collaboration by Admissions, the Center for Advising and Academic Support (CAAS), the Piper Center for Vocation and Career, the Taylor Center for Equity and Inclusion, TRIO Student Support Services, and TRIO McNair Scholars.
