Students will share what they learn through poster presentations on campus.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/ace\/showcase_spring10\/Asian_Studies\/\">Project Titles and Descriptions<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Economics<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>ECON 371\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Economics of the Public Sector\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Instructor: Economics of the Public Sector<\/p>\n<p>A long-standing assignment in Econ 371 has been for students to engage in research examining the efficacy of a particular government program (e.g. public health care, food stamps, police protection, etc.).\u00a0 This year, students from Econ 371 will work with the Northfield Community Action Center (CAC) as it evaluates the relative merits of its many programs.\u00a0 Specifically, the Northfield CAC has proposed to undertake a \u201ccost-benefit\u201d analysis of its programs, and students from Econ 371 will have the option to work with the CAC in this as a form of public scholarship.
