Dear ’77 Oles,
Greetings from southern Minnesota! We are enjoying a very mild winter so far. There is currently no snow on the ground and temperatures are forecasted to be near 60 next week. It has made ice-fishing tenuous! We’ve swapped snow shoes for water skis! Uff da!
We’re writing to invite you to register for our 40th year class reunion on June 2-4, 2017. We hope you’ll join us at the reunion to reconnect with St. Olaf friends, to share stories of your experiences since we graduated, to take an Alumni class, to sing and hear singing again with and by the best, and to end each night with live music and dancing with Oles from other classes in the Pause.
The college has set forth a myriad of activities for us during our reunion. We’d like to highlight a few special events:
Friday, June 2, 2:30 p.m.: Interested in taking classes in the Alumni College? Enjoy presentations by faculty members from 2:30-5:30 p.m.! We’ll have heavy hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages and casual conversation at 6 p.m. followed by entertainment in the Pause from 9 p.m.-midnight. There will also be a bonfire on Mellby lawn at 10 p.m. A special treat, Garrison Keillor will be leading a sing-along in Boe Chapel from 8:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 3, 4:30 a.m.: Bring flashlights and hard hats as we sneak through the tunnels and emerge in the Power Plant then we will sneak into the Caves and liberate the ceramic toilets that have been stored there for 50 years! Ok … just kidding!
Saturday, June 3, 11 a.m.: Join in on the fun of the reunion class parade, celebrating eight decades of St. Olaf Alumni. At 11:30 a.m. in Boe Chapel is the All-Alumni Celebration when President David Anderson will give his State of the College address and representatives from each class will present their class gift to the college. Immediately following is an all-reunion luncheon on the Campus Green.
Saturday, June 3, 6 p.m.: We will have our Class Dinner at 6 p.m. Evening entertainment is the Johnny Holm Band in the Pause.
Be sure to complete the enclosed Memory Survey (if you can remember) and return it to the Alumni Office. The surveys will be put together into a St. Olaf Class of 1977 Memory Book that will be sent electronically to everyone.
We look forward to seeing you June 2-4 back on Manitou Heights! Between now and reunion weekend, please make sure to do the following:
