Gangsei, 86, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Oct. 22, 2014. Philip was born May 16, 1928 in Sacramento, Calif. He was a devoted husband, pastor, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He accepted a call to start Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, a mission church in Phoenix, in August 1957, where he served faithfully for 30 years. He was also pastor at Hope Lutheran Church, San Mateo, Calif., and Shepherd of the Valley and La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, Phoenix. Philip is survived by his sister, <strong>Erma Gangsei Larson &#8217;47<\/strong>, and brother, <strong>David Gangsei &#8217;53<\/strong> and wife Helen; his children, Susan Gangsei , Ann Watson and husband Dave, and Mark Gangsei and wife Karen; his grandchildren, Sara, Brian, Thomas, Christine, Logan, and Savannah; and nieces and nephews, including <strong>Paul Gangsei &#8217;67<\/strong>, <strong>Karthia Gangsei Grotey &#8217;79<\/strong>, <strong>David Gangsei &#8217;67<\/strong>, <strong>Peter Gangsei &#8217;69<\/strong>, and <strong>Olivia Hagen Gangsei &#8217;55<\/strong>. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents, including <strong>Nels Gangsei &#8217;17<\/strong>; brother,<strong> Lyle Gangsei &#8217;42<\/strong> and wife <strong>Virginia Peterson Gangsei &#8217;44<\/strong>; brother-in-law, <strong>Leslie Larson &#8217;49<\/strong>; and son-in-law, Gerry Glaser.<\/p>\n<p>In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Westminster Village Foundation, La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, or any organization that supports Philip&#8217;s ministry of God.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Philip A.
