He was a graduate of St. Olaf College, New York University Law School, where he also did graduate work in tax law, and the Pacific Gunnery School. He joined the Navy Dec. 8, 1941 and served until 1946, reaching the rank of Lt. Commander. He served two years at sea in the Pacific Ocean. He owned and ran a business in Venezuela for seven years, and practiced law in New York and later Minnesota until age 91. He was known to be good with horses, a lover of Labradors, an excellent wing shot, a great cook, and could get around in three languages. He had a quick mind and a strong will to the last day. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev Ananias Skogerboe, a Norwegian immigrant; his mother, Anna Grinde; his wife of 51 years, <strong>Elsa Westby Skogerboe &#8217;40<\/strong>; sisters, <strong>Judith Skogerboe Hyland &#8217;34<\/strong> and husband <strong>Philip Hyland &#8217;38<\/strong>, and Alpha Mork; and brother, Rudy Skogerboe, M.D. Norris was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Hansen; his son and law partner, <strong>David Skogerboe &#8217;72<\/strong>; and a sister-in-law, <strong>E. Arona Olsted Skogerboe &#8217;42<\/strong>. He is survived by his brother, Col. Arvid Skogerboe; sister-in-law, Pat Skogerboe; his son Rolf Skogerboe, M.D.; and daughters-in-law, Heather Skogerboe and <strong>Nancy Lange &#8217;74<\/strong>. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, including <strong>Peter Hansen &#8217;97<\/strong> and wife <strong>Michelle Boulay Hansen &#8217;97<\/strong>, <strong>David Hansen &#8217;06<\/strong> and wife <strong>Lindsey Thoreson Hansen &#8217;06<\/strong>, and <strong>Eric Skogerboe &#8217;10<\/strong>; 20 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, including <strong>Phyllis Hyland Larson &#8217;69 P &#8217;99<\/strong>, <strong>Ruth Hyland Forsythe &#8217;73<\/strong>, <strong>Rebecca Hyland Heikenen &#8217;75<\/strong> and husband <strong>Charles Heikenen &#8217;73<\/strong>, and <strong>Lois Hyland Sonstegard &#8217;69<\/strong>.
