This exhibit commemorates the building, which was renovated in 2000 to become the Center for Art and Dance for Fine Arts.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"jwl_one_third\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stolaf.edu\/collections\/archives\/shows\/steensland\/index.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/archives\/files\/2013\/11\/steensland.jpg\" alt=\"Steensland Hall: A Century of Service\" width=\"76\" height=\"101\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stolaf.edu\/files\/archives\/shows\/steensland\/index.html\">Steensland Hall: A Century of Service<\/a><\/b><br \/>\nDespite its modest proportions, no St. Olaf building has served more purposes in the 20th century than Steensland Hall. On Nov. 6, 2002, it celebrated its 100th birthday.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"jwl_one_third last\"><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stolaf.edu\/collections\/archives\/shows\/ladieshall\/index.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/archives\/files\/2013\/11\/ladieshall1.jpg\" alt=\"Ladies' Hall\" width=\"76\" height=\"101\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stolaf.edu\/files\/archives\/shows\/ladieshall\/index.html\">Ladies&#8217; Hall<\/a><\/b><br \/>\nLadies&#8217; Hall served as the college&#8217;s only women&#8217;s dormitory for over 30 years. Unlike many other private educational institutions of its day, St. Olaf was co-educational from the beginning. Indeed, it was the first co-educational Norwegian-American institution of higher learning.<\/p>\n<p><\/div><div class=\"clearboth\"><\/div><\/p>\n<div class=\"jwl_one_third\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stolaf.edu\/collections\/archives\/shows\/cornerstone\/index.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px;\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/archives\/files\/2013\/11\/cornerstone.jpg\" alt=\"The First St. Olaf Cornerstone: The Main\" width=\"76\" height=\"101\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stolaf.edu\/files\/archives\/shows\/cornerstone\/index.html\">Old Main: Standing Strong at 125<\/a><br \/>\n<\/b>St. Olaf dedicated its Main on Nov. 6, 1878, four years after the school\u2019s founding. Sixteen months earlier, the first large public celebration in the institution\u2019s early history occurred, when the cornerstone of the Main was laid, on July 4, 1877.
