{"id":3650,"date":"2013-08-12T14:22:05","date_gmt":"2013-08-12T19:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/art\/?page_id=3650"},"modified":"2025-09-25T15:55:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T20:55:49","slug":"art-employment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/art\/art-employment\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Employment in Art and Art History"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-modular-content-collection><h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The art department employs over 30 student workers, all of whom help make our department a vibrant, fun, and safe place for students to learn and make art!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joining the department as a student worker is a great way for art majors and non-majors to enhance their subject matter knowledge, deepen their connection to the St. Olaf art community, and spend time in the studio.\u00a0 <\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please read all of the following information before applying:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Eligibility<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Art department student work positions are open to both majors and non-majors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some student work positions require prior classroom experience.\u00a0 In order to apply for a student work position in Ceramics, Photo, or the Sculpture Shop, students must have taken (or be currently enrolled in) a course in that respective area <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at St. Olaf<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 (i.e. Prospective Photo Lab Workers must have taken or be currently enrolled in Intro to Photography at St. Olaf before applying.)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are few opportunities for art department student workers to work more than 10 hours per week.\u00a0 Students who want to maximize their student work award have sometimes chosen to get a second student work job on campus.
