Museum closed during finals week May 16-21.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">POSTER DESIGNER<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One person will be nominated to design the poster in consultation with Krista Anderson Larson. This person should have graphic design and project management skills and experience. This person will be elected by the group during the first class session.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MIDTERM CRITIQUES<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Museum staff will attend midterm critiques in your studios. Work should be in progress to share with museum staff. <\/span><\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TECH MEETING<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mandatory tech meetings will be held in person in your studio spaces to a) communicate with museum and technical staff about exhibition logistics and b) discuss individual installation issues. If anything changes from your tech form, you must communicate those changes to Jane Becker Nelson and Krista Anderson-Larson ASAP.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Before the meeting, each artist must complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/art343\/tech-form\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tech Form.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Name the document LAST NAME_FIRST NAME (eg: \u201cSMITH_ROGER.pdf\u201d and email it to Patty Cohn (cohn@stolaf.edu).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Calluna Sans', -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', 'Segoe UI Emoji', Cantarell, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 1.333em;\">PR<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_999\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-999\" style=\"width: 194px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/art343\/files\/2023\/06\/Senior-Art-Showcase-FINALLLpc-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-999\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/art343\/files\/2023\/06\/Senior-Art-Showcase-FINALLLpc-194x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-999\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">2023<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A member (or members) of the 343 class have an opportunity to design a promotional poster. Qualified students will have graphic design experience, and will work with FAM Social Media Content to design a poster. Draft designs will be submitted to Krista Anderson-Larson for revision suggestions and finalization, according to the timeline in the 343 calendar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The museum will pay for color poster printing.\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/art343\/senior-show-poster-archive\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(See the archive of posters from previous years)<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The poster should include the following information:<\/span>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Title of show<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Names of artists (be sure to check with classmates about preferred names; proof-read all names for spelling and accuracy)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Location: Flaten Art Museum, Center for Art and Dance, St. Olaf College<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dates of show, including the year<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Date and time of reception<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/flaten\/visit\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Museum hours<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Museum website (stolaf.edu\/flaten)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The poster can be printed on campus at the print center, and charged to the museum. The group spokesperson (or poster designer) will ask museum staff for a budget number.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Print 100 posters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Send a digital copy to Jane Becker Nelson, Krista Anderson-Larson, and Patty Cohn for advertising. The Art Dept and museum will share on their websites, social media, and in College email newsletters.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students may re-post to social media as desired.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If individual artists make their own postcard or digital promotions, these should be circulated approximately two weeks before the show opens. Personal prints are done at the artist\u2019s expense, either at the print center or off campus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Online postcard printer options include: 4by6.com, modernpostcard.com, psprint.com.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Calluna Sans', -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', 'Segoe UI Emoji', Cantarell, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 1.333em;\">MUSEUM DOCUMENTS (LABELS AND STATEMENTS)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each artist must submit label information and an artist statement to the museum. The department can fund up to $200 in materials for a limited number of students. The application deadline is February 24th, 2023. Please contact Peter Nelson, Chair of Art &amp; Art History, at <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"mailto:nelsonp@stolaf.edu\">nelsonp@stolaf.edu<\/a> if you have any questions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DELIVERY OF ARTWORK<\/span><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Artists will deliver their work to the galleries between <\/span><b>1\u20133pm, Monday, April 15<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work will not be accepted if it is late, has wet paint, is structurally\u00a0unsound, or is not listed on your Tech Form.<\/li>\n<li>Contact Jane Becker Nelson and Krista Anderson-Larson to schedule a time to be involved in your installation.<\/li>\n<li>If framing 2D work, you may check out the framing kit from the wood shop. Seek assistance from your faculty advisor(s) and\/or Anders Nienstaedt.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Discretely label each object with your name and title (on the back, bottom, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attach a temporary label with your name and the title securely TO THE FRONT of each piece.
