Disability and Access can provide services to students experiencing a temporary medical condition (such as broken limbs, concussion symptoms, or short term healing associated with surgery) which limits the student’s ability to function in the classroom and/or physical environment.
Academic accommodations for temporary medical conditions will need to be reviewed and approved at regular intervals to assess any ongoing barriers to the academics and whether the accommodations are still warranted.
Students with a temporary condition need to follow the same eligibility process as students with disabilities:
- Fill out a New Student Application in myDAC
- Meet with an Access Specialist for an intake interview and provide documentation to determine eligibility for academic accommodations and auxiliary aids and services.
- If any accommodations involving classroom support are initiated, the student must have a conversation with the instructor to discuss the logistics of the accommodation in each course.
