For those interested particularly in South Asia, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acm.edu\/programs\/40\/india_development\/index.html?utm_source=%2findia&amp;utm_medium=web&amp;utm_campaign=redirect\">ACM India Studies program<\/a>\u00a0offers area studies courses and intensive language instruction without prerequisites.<\/p>\n<p>Asian Studies courses taken in St. Olaf off-campus programs can often be counted toward a major in <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/asian-studies\/major\/\">Asian Studies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/chinese\/chinese-language\/\">Chinese<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/japanese\/japanese-language\/\">Japanese<\/a>, as well as a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/asian-studies\/concentration\/\">concentration in Asian Studies<\/a>. Students who wish to count off-campus courses toward a major or concentration should seek approval from the chair of the Asian Studies Department before beginning their programs.
