English professor wins book award

Book Cover: "Where We Go When All We Were Is Gone"St. Olaf College Assistant Professor of English Jeremy (Sequoia) Nagamatsu was recently named a silver medal winner of the 2016 Foreword Reviews’ Indies Book of the Year Award.

Thousands of books are entered each year, and a panel of over 120 librarians and booksellers take part in the judging, narrowing it down to a group of finalists and winners that represent the best books, published by independent or university presses, in over 60 categories.

St. Olaf College Assistant Professor of English Jeremy (Sequoia) NagamatsuNagamatsu’s award-winning book Where We Go When All We Were Is Gone is a story collection that mixes the monsters and magic of Japanese folklore with the everyday chaos of human relationships.

At St. Olaf Nagamatsu teaches first-year writing and creative writing courses, with a specialty in fiction. He is currently working on a novel based on one of the stories in Where We Go When All We Were Is Gone, which has garnered feature film interest, as well as a second story collection.
