Kari Lie Dorer is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Norwegian Dept. and Director of Nordic Studies at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She specializes in the scholarship of teaching, foreign language instruction, curriculum development, the use of technology with language learning, Sámi studies and Nordic film. Kari has lived in Norway for 3 years and frequently travels back and forth. She has taught Norwegian at St. Olaf for 15 years.
While Kari teaches the older students, her husband, Benjamin Dorer, is a public elementary Montessori school teacher. He graduated from Saint John’s University and completed his initial teacher licensure from Hamline University. Ben completed his AMI 6-12 Montessori training in Italy at Centro Internazionale Studi Montessoriani – a program started by Maria Montessori.
