Lecture: Adoption in the U.S.

The St. Olaf College Department of Social Work and Family Studies will host the Olson Discovering Families Lecture: Adoption in the U.S., featuring three panelists who bring distinct perspectives to the topic of adoption in the United States.
The event is free and open to the public, and there will be CEU’s offered for social workers in attendance as well.
Lisa Marie Rollins, currently a visiting faculty in theater at Colorado College, is a writer/playwright/poet, performer, and educator who has been featured in print, on television, and the stage. She is the founder of Adopted and Foster Adults of the African Diaspora (AFAAD) and has been a longtime advocate and educator.
Elizabeth Raleigh is an academic whose scholarship and recent book interrogates the marketplace for transracial adoption and the numerous intersecting systems that the adoption triad is navigating.
Lucius Luther, the first single black male adoptive parent in the state of Minnesota, engages in training and scholarship through the Center for Advanced Study of Child Welfare and is a popular educator and trainer in the state.
