Lecture: Millennial North Korea

Dr. Suk-Young Kim is a Professor of Theater and Head of Performance Studies at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Her research interests include East Asian Performance and Visual Culture, Gender and Nationalism, Korean Cultural Studies, Russian Literature and Slavic Folklore.

With the generous assistance of the Korea Foundation and the Northeast Asia Council of the Association for Asian Studies, the Department of Asian Studies and Asian Conversations program welcomes Dr. Kim to St. Olaf for her talk “Millennial North Korea: Cell Phones and Forbidden Media” which discusses how young North Koreans access outside information despite living in a country where internet is not allowed. This talk is free and open to the public.
