Combating Skin Lightening Practices

The Pre-Health Club will host an event with Amira Adawe, MPH, titled “Combating Toxic Chemical Exposures and Skin Lightening Practices.”

Amira will share her experiences as a both a public health advocate and researcher in women and children’s health in the areas of skin lightening practices and exposure to toxic chemicals. Amira is the founder and executive director of the Beautywell Project, a non-profit aimed addressing the environmental impacts of skin lightening practices and toxic chemical exposures in Minnesota and globally.

This event was organized as part of Public Health Week by Hibo Mohamed ’21 in collaboration with the Pre-Health Club.
