Relaxation Training on Zoom

January 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Beth Freschi is a relaxation and life coach with A Time for Expression, LLC. She will guide the group through a full relaxation training session, and it will be unlike any Zoom meetings you have experienced! Instead of leaning forward and staring at the screen while sitting at a desk, Beth invites you to choose the most comfortable chair or couch in your space, sit or lie back, close your eyes, and enjoy a time for relaxation and recharging.

We will be using both physical and imaginative techniques to calm the mind and body. As you relax, it will be a “learning by doing” experience—leaving you feeling relaxed and empowered to reproduce the effects on your own time.

Here is the program:

Exhaling with Sound

This is an effective breathing technique that uses your voice to release stress, tension, and frustration. It involves breathing in deeply and making a resonant sound such as “ahhh…” as you exhale, like a sigh of release. The combination of breath and sound is very effective in releasing stress from deep inside.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Progressive Muscle Relaxation helps us become aware of the different feelings and sensations that occur when we tense and release different muscle groups. It is an excellent technique to help you enter a deeply relaxed state or fall asleep.

Awareness of Body Relaxation

Now that the breathing and muscle relaxation techniques are beginning to ease stress and tension, it is time to allow the imagination to further guide us into deeper relaxation. This “Awareness of Body Relaxation” is a great “letting go” technique that allows any leftover tension to melt away so we are ready for the next technique: guided imagery.

Guided Imagery: Sanctuary

This is a classic guided imagery technique that allows you to create in your imagination a sanctuary that can be a refuge from the stress of daily life. Because of the way the mind and body are connected, guided imagery can make you feel like you are experiencing something just by imagining it.

Loving Kindness Meditation: The Waves of Life

This loving kindness meditation invites us to notice the sensations and feelings that arise within us as we practice fostering unconditional, inclusive love, which everyone has in potential.
