Saving the World’s Manuscript Heritage

March 8 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

The Hill Museum and Manuscript Library (HMML) has rescued over 300,000 manuscripts from around the world. As the Executive Director of HMML since 2000, Father Columba Stewart and others have rescued manuscripts at great personal risk by the Islamic State and other forces that endanger manuscripts from multiple traditions (Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, and more).

Dr. Stewart is a Benedictine monk at St. John’s University. In 2019 he was appointed to be the Thomas Jefferson Lecturer in the Humanities, the highest award in humanities.
