“This is Us” is a devised theatre piece that will be created by POC Ole Theatre members and directed by Khanthida (Ayee) Mounivong.
Over the course of three and a half weeks, POC Ole theatre members will rehearse and practice different aspects of theatre such as improvisation, storytelling and devising theatre in order to create an original theatre production that is movement-based. Under the title of ‘This is us’, we will explore the themes of identity and connection of human beings, especially for us as BIPOC community, and present to the audience who we are as individuals and as a group. The purpose is to bring physical theatre on campus and present the talents of our BIPOC members of POC Ole Theatre who are also a poet, singer, dancer, musician, actor, etc. We hope that the show will be the celebration of our identities and our stories as well as engage the audience to value their own identities and connections they have with someone who is different from themselves.
