Dorn\, is the oldest musical ensemble at St. Olaf College. Founded in 1891\, the ensemble performs the very best compositions and transcriptions for symphonic band\, producing an exciting\, crowd-pleasing style\, and was dubbed “one of America’s preeminent bands” by The New Yorker.\n\nThe St. Olaf Jazz Band\, conducted by Joseph L. Jefferson\, is the premier large jazz ensemble at St. Olaf College. They were voted the “Best College or University Big Band” by Downbeat Magazine in May 2011\, and was awarded “Outstanding Performance by Large Undergraduate Jazz Ensemble” by the publication in 2019. SUMMARY:Manitou Singers and Viking Chorus Concert
DESCRIPTION:Manitou Singers\, conducted by Therees Hibbard\, and Viking Chorus\, conducted by Paolo Debuque\, present a joint Spring concert. \nComprised of alto and soprano voices from the first-year class\, the Manitou Singers is one of the most popular music organizations on the St. Olaf College campus. With a repertoire that ranges from sacred to secular to popular ballads\, the 100-voice choir sings at the opening worship service of the college as well as at various campus functions throughout the year. \nThe Viking Chorus of St. Olaf College is a choir of first-year tenors and basses who carry on a legacy of a chorus singing since its founding in 1935.
