SUMMARY:Mental Health Resilience Overview for Faculty/Staff
DESCRIPTION:This presentation is designated for professionals looking to have a basic understanding of how to manage their own mental health and support others while navigating a busy life at work and home. Mental Health and Wellbeing is important for individuals across all stages of life\, different fields of study and work\, as well as various cultural identities. Being able to identify signals that let us know we may be struggling as well as signals that tell us we are doing well\, helps to build resilience and confidence in managing our own mental health. In this workshop\, participants will learn how to recognize signs and quick and easy strategies to help increase ability to recognize\, emotionally regulate\, and respond to our own struggles. Participants walk away with practical CBT skills including grounding techniques\, emotion recognition\, the cognitive triangle\, as well as DBT skills that include IMPROVE\, leaves on a stream\, and DEARMAN.

SUMMARY:Young Adult Faith and Climate Summit
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Young Adult Faith and Climate Summit\, the public is invited to attend the opening plenary session “The ELCA’s Climate Work: Faithful Advocacy in Challenging Times” led by Christine Moffett\, ELCA Environmental Policy Specialist. Christine Moffet (she/her) serves as the Program Director for Environment and Energy Policy with the Witness in Society\, D.C. office-based team\, within the Service and Justice unit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Christine brings a background in both environmental science and political science. She holds a Master of Political Science Degree from the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam in Global Environmental Governance\, Climate Change and Sustainability. In addition\, she brings experience conducting community needs assessments in accompaniment with tribal nations. In this role with the ELCA\, she advocates to the federal government around issues of stewardship of creation\, environmental justice\, climate change\, sustainability\, among others\, all guided by ELCA social teachings. \nThe plenary will take place at 10 a.m. in Valhalla Ballroom\, followed by a lunch at 11 a.m. The event will end with a panel conversation on Troubled Hope & Binocular Vision. All are invited to attend. \n
