{"id":4745,"date":"2012-11-01T21:19:29","date_gmt":"2012-11-01T21:19:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/cila\/pages\/associates\/2006-2007-associates\/"},"modified":"2014-04-08T13:58:14","modified_gmt":"2014-04-08T18:58:14","slug":"2006-2007-associates","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/cila\/associates\/2006-2007-associates\/","title":{"rendered":"2006-2007 Associates Archive"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-modular-content-collection><div><span class=\"body\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/cila\/associates\/\">Back to Faculty Associates Archives<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"body\"><strong>The 2006-2007 CILA Associates <\/strong><\/span><span class=\"body\"><strong> Chuck Huff &#8211; Psychology<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"body\"><em> Chuck&#8217;s project focuses on his course entitled &#8220;Ethical Issues in Software Design.&#8221; In particular he is interested in virtue ethics which have often been defined as &#8220;character traits embedded in a community.&#8221; In contrast, based upon the broader literatures in virtue ethics and moral psychology, Chuck sees moral habits as &#8220;well-practiced skills that are learnable by practice and teaching.&#8221; Building on his study of moral exemplars in computing, he is interested in the ways in which one can teach computer ethics. To look at both his project and the broader ethics literature, he invites a learning community drawn primarily from teachers of EIN courses. Chuck will serve as the CILA Associate for Teaching and Technology. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"body\"><strong><em>Learning Community<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"body\"><em> Kathryn Ananda-Owens<br \/>\nMary Carlsen<br \/>\nRick Goedde<br \/>\nSiau Muir<br \/>\nDiana Neal<br \/>\nAnne Walter <\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"body\"><strong>Mary Titus &#8211; English <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"body\"><em>Mary proposes a new interdisciplinary seminar for CIS (Center for Integrative Studies) majors.
