It covers more than 1000 years of civilization, beginning with the Etruscans and ending with the fall of the Western Roman Empire. When not visiting museums and archaeological sites, students have the opportunity to experience modern Italian culture as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GE Requirements: GHS, CRE<br \/>Counts toward Classics, Greek, Latin, and Ancient Studies majors.<br \/>Open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Offered in alternate years during January term, most recently in 2026. Will next be offered in 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NOTE: The Classics Department offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/classics\/groomis-scholarship-in-classics\/\">Groomis Scholarship<\/a> for students who apply to Classics 253.
