It covers more than 2,000 years of Greek civilization, from the Bronze Age through the archaic, classical, and Hellenistic periods. The itinerary takes students all over Greece, with extended stays in Athens, Crete, the Peloponnese, and Thessaloniki. When not visiting museums and archaeological sites, students have the opportunity to experience modern Greek culture as well.<\/p>\n<p>GE Requirements:\u00a0 GHS, CRE<br \/>\nCounts toward Classics, Greek, Latin, and Ancient Studies majors.<br \/>\nOpen to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.<\/p>\n<p>Offered in alternate years during January Term. <a href=\"https:\/\/stolaf.studioabroad.com\/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.ViewProgramAngular&amp;id=10130\">Applications<\/a> for the program in January, 2027, to be taught by Prof. Anne Groton, are now available.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/classics\/files\/2026\/04\/Classics-251-2027-Extended-Description.pdf\">here<\/a> to read the extended course description.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: The Classics Department offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/classics\/groomis-scholarship-in-classics\/\">Groomis Scholarship<\/a> for students who apply to Classics 251.
