{"id":3446,"date":"2022-05-25T10:42:17","date_gmt":"2022-05-25T15:42:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/equity-inclusion\/?page_id=3446"},"modified":"2023-11-16T14:02:41","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T20:02:41","slug":"financial-resources","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/community-belonging\/theory-of-transformation\/financial-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"Financial Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-modular-content-collection><h4><strong><em>Theory of Transformation<\/em>:\u00a0 <\/strong><strong>Financial Resources<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Key actions to provide financial support for diversity, equity, and inclusion include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Securing resources:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i>Allocating existing college resources <\/i>\u2013 Through the annual budgeting process, the college allocates millions of dollars each year to support the college\u2019s DEI efforts<\/li>\n<li><i>Securing new resources through fundraising \u2013 <\/i>Since 2006, the college has raised more than $13 million in DEI-designated gifts and pledges from alumni and friends of the college, supporting more than 85 different funds for student scholarships, teaching and learning, student support services, and co-curricular programming<\/li>\n<li><i>Securing new resources through grant funding \u2013 <\/i>Since 2006, the college has secured more than $12.5 million in grant funding from government, corporate, and non-profit organizations to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and learning, student services, and scholarly research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Using resources:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>St. Olaf uses funds from budgeting, fundraising, and grant-seeking to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in a wide variety of ways.\u00a0 Examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/admissions\/afford\"><i>Meeting the full demonstrated financial need of every student<\/i><\/a> through grants, loans, and student employment awards funded by the college\u2019s financial aid budget<\/li>\n<li><i>Supporting the people, programs, policies, and practices<\/i> described in all the other Action Domains through the annual budgeting process, such as designated DEI staff positions; strategies to recruit and retain diverse students, faculty, and staff; curriculum content; and DEI data reporting<\/li>\n<li><i>Enabling equitable student participation in high-impact experiences<\/i> through resources such as:\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/johnsonopportunityfund\/\">Johnson Family Opportunity Fund<\/a> providing financial support for career-enhancing experiences in the Piper Center<\/li>\n<li>An endowment enabling students to <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/news\/campaign-gift-brings-world-closer-to-st-olaf-students\">participate in the Global Semester<\/a> for the same cost as studying on campus<\/li>\n<li>Other <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/international\/st-olaf-sponsored-scholarships\/\">St. Olaf scholarships<\/a> supporting off-campus study<\/li>\n<li>An endowment enabling students to <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/news\/gift-to-make-music-ensemble-international-tours-cost-free-for-students\">participate in international music tours<\/a> without incurring additional cost<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><i>Enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, learning, student support, and scholarly and creative activity <\/i>through resources such as:\n<ul>\n<li>A four-year, $800,000 grant from the Andrew W.
