{"id":54,"date":"2024-04-23T10:57:20","date_gmt":"2024-04-23T15:57:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/dance-handbook\/?page_id=54"},"modified":"2024-04-23T10:57:20","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T15:57:20","slug":"junior-project","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/dance-handbook\/junior-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Junior Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-modular-content-collection>\n<p>Project proposals are due 2 weeks after the fall dance majors\u2019 meeting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each dance major will propose a project inspired by their Area of Specialty that they will create and present during their junior year. This project could be choreography created by the student, a solo performance, a paper, or an interdisciplinary project. The goal of this project is to provide an opportunity for junior dance majors to engage in a creative project process that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>is not a class assignment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>aligns with the student&#8217;s interests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is a low stakes \u2018tryout\u2019 of the senior capstone project process*<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>*The projects do not need to relate directly to the capstone process (i.e. if the student wants to do a solo senior year, they can still choreograph a group dance for their junior project)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best presentation option is during an already scheduled department event (Fresh Space in November, one of the Friday Night Lights performances, the FYDP concert, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junior dance majors may also select another date, time and space for the presentation of their projects.
