Matthew Wright – Associate Professor, Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science<\/h2>\n\n

I employ a \u201cflipped class\u201d approach for teaching Math 262 Probability Theory. I created a series of videos that students watch before class, which deliver the course content and free up class time for collaborative problem solving. These videos are hosted on St. Olaf\u2019s Panopto site and include comprehension questions for the students to answer. I first used this approach in Fall 2020; I am now teaching the course again and revising my videos and problem sets. I have found this approach to be effective in developing students\u2019 mastery of course content and development of problem solving skills, compared to a traditional class format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
