If you have trouble logging in, please let us know at education@stolaf.edu<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"candidate\">Assessing Candidate Portfolio and Presentation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to SLL.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on \u201cIn Progress\u201d on the left hand side menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can filter by semester at the top of the screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the name of the course (EDUC ST &#8211; EDUC Student Teachers, ST YEAR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the name of the assessment (TERM YEAR Candidate Portfolio and Presentation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will see ALL students completing their Candidate Portfolios; you only need to assess\/review the students assigned to you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find the student name; make sure that they have submitted their portfolio before reviewing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the top, you will see tabs in the portfolio for Autobiography Reflection, Dispositions, Goals, and Readiness Statement. Review each of those documents and use the rubric on the right to assess.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the student did not score a \u201c2\u201d or \u201c3\u201d on each criteria in the rubric (which is on the right hand side of the screen), ask the student for revision (you can do this in SLL).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Save<\/strong>&nbsp;your rubric; you will later assess the presentation. Once you\u2019ve assessed the presentation, you can&nbsp;<strong>SUBMIT<\/strong>&nbsp;the rubric.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"assessingactivities\">Faculty Directions for Assessing Activities <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/watermarkinsights.hubs.vidyard.com\/watch\/r1s7aFsRjM49Hibwbty3eb\">Video Directions from Watermark<\/a><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to SLL<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on \u201cIn Progress\u201d on the left hand side menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can filter by semester at the top of the screen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the name of the course in which the activity as assigned.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the activity (or assessment) name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will see a list of students on the right. If the student has submitted, you will see that the \u201cSubmission Status\u201d says \u201cSubmitted\u201d along with the date of submission.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the student name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can either view or download the assignment. View will open the assignment in the left-hand window.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the right side, you will see the \u201cAssessment Panel\u201d with the rubric. Hover over the checkmark to see the standard being assessed. Click \u201cView Rubric Details\u201d to see the criteria for each level (Emerging, Basic, Proficient). Select the rating that reflects the student\u2019s work. There is no expectation that you provide comments on the rubric.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the student meets the standards (score of 2 or 3), \u201cSubmit\u201d the score. You can also \u201cSave\u201d your work if you did not complete the rubric.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the student needs to revise, click \u201cRequest Revision,\u201d which will return the assignment to the student. You will need to email them so they know what to revise and that the activity has been returned to them. They can resubmit, and you will be able to assess the new assignment. Ask the student to highlight changes that they made to their submission so it is clear to you what they have revised.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"idpcontributions\">Individual Development Plan (IDP) and Special Student Teaching Contract (SSTC) Creation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Completing an IDP for a Student<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SLL Login\u2192Student Learning and Licensure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the left navigation bar, click In Progress\u2192IDP &#8211; Individual Development Plan, EDUC IDP<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure that you are on the Activities screen and click the IDP Heading<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on student name\u2192Add the components of the IDP on left side<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On right side (the evaluation rubric) select N\/A\u2192Submit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student should be able to see their IDP under their \u201cIn Progress\u201d link<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the end of the review term, return to the IDP and click \u201cUndo\u201d at the top right. Complete the rubric for the result of the IDP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click \u201cSubmit\u201d and complete a new IDP (might be in a new \u201cIn Progress\u201d course)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Completing a SSTC for a Student Teacher<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SLL Login\u2192Student Learning and Licensure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the left navigation bar, click In Progress\u2192Special Student Teaching Contract<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure that you are on the Activities screen and click the SSCT Heading<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on student name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The candidate and faculty member(s) discuss areas of concern, devise a plan of action, and complete the SSTC together in SLL\u2192Add the components of the SSCT on left side<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The candidate, using the faculty member(s) computer, indicates their agreement with the statements and the contract and &#8220;signs&#8221; the contract.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On right side (the evaluation rubric) faculty select N\/A\u2192Submit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The student should be able to see their SSCT under their \u201cIn Progress\u201d link<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Throughout student teaching, the student teacher and education faculty member will meet to determine whether or not the candidate is working toward and meeting all criteria.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If it is determined that the candidate is not meeting the criteria, they may be discontinued from student teaching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the end of the review term, faculty return to the SSTC and click \u201cUndo\u201d at the top right. Complete the rubric for the result of the SSCT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"studentconcerns\">Student Concerns Forms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to SLL &#8211;&gt; In Progress&#8211;&gt; EDUC XXX (your class number) &#8211;&gt;Make sure it says &#8220;View as Instructor&#8221; if you have a choice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on TERM YEAR Student Concerns Form&#8211;&gt;student name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For each student, complete the form and submit. They cannot see what you write.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"cpastmidtermforss\">CPAST Assessment (Midterm and Final) Instructions for Specialist Supervisors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Completing CPAST Assessment<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to SLL; on the left side navigation, click \u201cIn Process.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down and click on \u201cEducation 389.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under \u201cStudent Activities,\u201d make sure that the \u201cView As\u201d drop-down box says \u201cSupervisor\u201d and not \u201cInstructor.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on \u201cCPAST Midterm\u201d or \u201cCPAST Final\u201d and the on the student you are evaluating. Only complete for the student teachers for which you are the SPECIALIST supervisor.<br \/>On the CPAST evaluation page, you will see tabs at the top for student teacher, cooperating teacher, and college supervisor. Click on the \u201cSupervisor\u201d tab. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>YOUR individual rubric appears on the LEFT side of the screen. Each element of the rubric is listed with the four possible ratings. On the <b>MIDTERM<\/b>, it is likely that student teachers will receive ratings of 0-1 with a few 2\u2019s. To earn a \u201c2,\u201d student teachers must meet ALL criteria listed. As the midterm evaluation is formative, student teachers will use this feedback to set goals for the remainder of their student teaching placement. At the <b>FINAL<\/b> CPAST evaluation, student teachers should achieve predominately at the \u201cMeets Expectations\u201d level (a score of 2).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For each rating, jot down a few notes in the \u201cComments\u201d box for <strong>EVIDENCE<\/strong> that supports your rating. This will be helpful during your three-way meeting with the student teacher and the cooperating teacher. You can use the \u201cCPAST Look Fors\u201d document for likely sources of evidence for each criteria (under the \u201cResources\u201d tab in the CPAST assessment or on your paper handout).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you have completed all criteria in the rubric and comments, SAVE your response (WAIT to SUBMIT until you have completed the Consensus Rubric).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Viewing Scores<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To view student teachers\u2019 self evaluation and the goals they set, click on the \u201cStudent Teacher\u201d tabs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the cooperating teacher completes their evaluation, you will be able to see their ratings by clicking on the \u201cAssessments History\u201d button at the top of the screen, selecting &#8220;Mentor&#8221; and then clicking on the &#8220;Cooperating Teacher&#8221; tab on the assessment screen. This will facilitate the three-way conference.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Three-Way Conversation and Final Submission<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Set a time for the three of you to meet by the deadline listed in the calendar \u2013 this can be done virtually and will likely not be able to be completed after a \u201cregular\u201d visit. It may take 45 minutes to complete.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During your three-way conversation, you could review each criteria, target for discussion areas in which the three of you disagree, or focus on areas in which student teachers need most improvement or have established goals. To facilitate the discussion, it&#8217;s best if you have entered everyone&#8217;s scores on a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1zknhKWZiV-b3GO6NnCMDnGQt2T6kR-Rl4miOVDOiRpE\/edit?usp=sharing\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1zknhKWZiV-b3GO6NnCMDnGQt2T6kR-Rl4miOVDOiRpE\/edit?usp=sharing\">spreadsheet<\/a> you share with them to allow for easy&nbsp;comparisons. During the discussion, each person could have their rubrics available online to&nbsp;to access the comments they wrote.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Based on the discussion, determine a consensus score for each criteria. Suggestion: write these scores down and transfer them <strong>after<\/strong> the conversation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the student teacher\u2019s goals as a group. If the student teacher needs to revise (for example, if the goal is not measurable or appropriate or if an area for improvement is revealed during the three-way discussion), click on \u201cRequest Revision,\u201d and that will allow students to make changes to their goals. They will need to resubmit the CPAST assessment. Have them email you once the revision is complete.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you are ready to enter the consensus scores, open the CPAST assessment again. You may be able to enter your scores in the Consensus Rubric. If not, click on &#8220;<strong>UNDO<\/strong>&#8221; at the top of the page. Enter your scores in the \u201c<strong>CONSENSUS RUBRIC<\/strong>\u201d on the right side of your assessment screen in the small rubric (you can also expand the rubric as well.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the Consensus Rubric is completed, click on &#8220;<strong>SUBMIT<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p><!-- \/wp:post-content --><\/p>\n<p><!-- wp:heading --><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"teachereducationapplications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"teachereducationapplications\"><\/a>Teacher Education Applications<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Click on \u201cProgram Applications\u201d on the left side navigation.<\/li>\n<li>In the \u201cFilter By\u201d dropdown box, choose \u201cOpen.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down to the \u201cTeacher Education Application\u201d hyperlink for the current term.<\/li>\n<li>Under \u201cFilter Applicants,\u201d search for the applicant\u2019s name.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the student\u2019s name. Student work is on the right hand side.<\/li>\n<li>The applicant has uploaded an <strong>unofficial transcript<\/strong> \u2013 review it for concerning grades\/GPA (look for classes in their major that are below a \u201cB,\u201d for example. Indicate any academic concerns in the dropdown box.<\/li>\n<li>Review the <strong>personal statement <\/strong>about the Conceptual Framework. This should be a rather thorough essay, about 3-4 double-spaced pages that highlight their responses to the prompts. Please discuss any points of interest with the applicant. Indicate the quality of the personal statement in the dropdown box.<\/li>\n<li>Review <strong>personal assurances<\/strong> \u2013 if the applicant has checked \u201cYes\u201d for \u201cCampus Disciplinary Action\u201d and \u201cAcademic Integrity,\u201d they should have provided an explanation in the text box. Review this with the applicant and check the appropriate concerns box.<\/li>\n<li>Review the <strong>Disposition Self-Assessment Ratings<\/strong> that the student completed as a GoogleSpreadsheet <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1LrtVpt3VpGXJcy3uU0C2Pjky1_xl9D4REvuLH_FPT7Q\/edit?usp=sharing\">here<\/a>.) Discuss very high\/low areas the student identifies. Professional Dispositions explained more fully <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/education\/files\/2021\/05\/DISPOSITION_CRITERIA_2021.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1KFrhgYQOi-E1v-ib1ncwm5HA0snPOCh-\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Transition Point document<\/strong><\/a> with the applicant so they understand how they progress through the program.<\/li>\n<li>Review the <strong>course plan<\/strong> that they created with their content area faculty member or create one with them. We have templates available for planning purposes (Education Shared Folder\u2192Advising\u2192Course Plans\u2192Application Year\u2192choose the appropriate course plan template) for you to use \u2013 make a copy for each student, save in the same folder as the template, give them editing access, and enter the Education and content courses in the plan. <strong>They will upload a copy of this to Gateways<\/strong> (under Interview\/Course Plan). If they have already created a course plan, make sure it is shared with you and Lisa and that their Education courses are accurate.<\/li>\n<li>If you have <strong>concerns<\/strong> about an applicant\u2019s essay, transcript, program assurances, dispositions, or other area that could prevent them from being admitted, there are three vertical dots in the upper right corner, click on the three dots and \u201c<strong>Add Internal Note<\/strong>.\u201d Applicants will not see what you enter in this text box.<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;<strong>Submit Evaluation&#8221;<\/strong> when you have completed your review.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>For Director of Assessment<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If a student needs to <strong>redo their application<\/strong>, click on the red \u201cDeny\u201d button, provide a note to the student on what they need to revise, and click on \u201cAllow Application to be Resubmitted.\u201d Then click \u201cDeny\u201d again at the bottom of the popup window. The student will have a chance to resubmit their application. Once they resubmit, you can review again.<\/li>\n<li>Once the review of the application is complete and there are<strong> no concerns<\/strong>, click on \u201cChange Status\u201d and dropdown \u201cConditionally Accepted.\u201d In the \u201cNote to Student\u201d box, write \u201c<strong>You are conditionally accepted pending your grade and attainment of standards in ED 295, field experience evaluation, GPA, and ED 295 instructor disposition. Music Education students cannot be fully admitted until they are admitted to the BM Music program.<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"teachereducationapplications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a id=\"fieldexperience\"><\/a>Field Experience: Time Logs and Host Teacher Evaluations<\/h2>\n<p><b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 To Review Student Logs<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In progress\u2192Your Class\u2192View as Instructor<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click \u201cStudent Logs\u201d at the top of the screen<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the \u201creport\u201d screen, you will see all your students, total entries from the student (duration), number of hours awaiting approval from the host teacher, the approved hours from the host teacher, and any entries that were rejected<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you click on the student, you will see everything that they entered, including a description of what they did during field experience.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If something seems off (like a student entered too many hours for one day), you can email them and they can edit any log that hasn\u2019t been approved or rejected by the host teacher.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a log has been rejected, a student will have to enter a new time log to replace any errors from the rejected log.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As instructor, you also have the \u201cpower\u201d to approve or reject hours if the host teacher does not. Please do not do this unless instructed to do so.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0To Review Early FE Evaluations<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In progress\u2192Your Class\u2192View as Instructor<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YOUR CLASS Early Field Experience Evaluation \u2013 for Host Teachers and Students<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will see a list of your students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the student has submitted their self-evaluation, you will see a little green checkmark, the word \u201cSubmitted,\u201d\u00a0 and the date of submission in the \u201cSubmission Status\u201d column.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the host teacher has completed their evaluation, you will see a little green box in the \u201cAssessment Status\u201d column along with the host teacher\u2019s name and date\/time they completed and submitted the evaluation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on the student\u2019s name.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will see the student\u2019s self-evaluation on the left side.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also bsee the host teacher\u2019s evaluation on the right side if they have completed it \u2013 click on \u201cAssessments History\u201d and select the host teacher\u2019s name if they have a \u201csubmit date\u201d next to their name.
