Our programming directly emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion within our mission to provide opportunities for students to acquire important knowledge and skills for serving a diverse community of learners in their futures. We host guest speakers, hold discussions on education-related topics, promote connections between Education students, and much more. organizations on campus! Here, we put on an event showcasing the role of school social workers alongside SWAGG (Social Work and the Greater Good).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Education Department strongly recommends that licensure candidates join EMAE; students who are education studies concentrators (not seeking licensure) are welcome to join as well. This professional organization provides liability insurance as well as professional resources for students planning to be teachers. This is an annual fee, to be renewed each academic year. Dues are $30 ($15 for NEA, $10 for Education Minnesota, and $5 for the local St. Olaf College chapter).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To join EMAE, apply online using a credit card at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.educationminnesota.org\">www.educationminnesota.org<\/a>&nbsp; and click on the benefits link at the top. Then click on Join Us and you will see Aspiring Educator Membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please print off the confirmation page after completing the registration. Save that document to be used in your first year of teaching. If your first job is in a school district where the local union is affiliated with NEA, you are eligible for a $20 per year refund up to $80 for each year you were a student member!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scholarship Opportunity!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Expedition Credit Union scholarship<\/strong>&nbsp;is open to Education Minnesota student members and other education students entering their junior or senior year.
