As of August 1, 2023, the Minnesota Teacher Licensing Exams (MTLE) Content, Pedagogy, and Basic Skills Exams will no longer be required for earning a Minnesota professional teaching license for those who successfully completed a PELSB-approved licensure program, including student teaching or practicum. (St. Olaf College falls into this category.) More information about testing requirements can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/mn.gov\/pelsb\/current-educators\/testing\/\"><strong>the PELSB website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tiered Licensure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Minnesota officially switched to the new\u00a0<strong>Tiered Licensure<\/strong>\u00a0system on July 1, 2018. This new system provides for four tiers of licenses, please see this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mn.gov\/pelsb\/assets\/Infographic%20Update%20-%2007.2024_tcm1113-638554.pdf\"><strong>infographic provided by Education Minnesota<\/strong><\/a>. Completers of St. Olaf&#8217;s Teacher Education program will be eligible for a Tier 3 license if they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Complete St. Olaf&#8217;s Teacher Education program, including successful student teaching and meeting all other requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This Tier 3 is good for three years and can be renewed indefinitely.
