There are also interest meetings for student teaching abroad.<\/p>\n<p>To student teach <strong>locally or abroad, <\/strong>you will complete the Student Teaching Planning Sheet and the Student Teaching Application that will be in<strong>\u00a0GoogleClassroom<\/strong>. You will receive access to that site during the application meetings.<\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"CandPresent\"><\/a>Candidate Presentation<\/h3>\n<p>The Candidate Presentation gives you an opportunity to reflect on your Education coursework and field experiences and your readiness to student teach. <b>This is an important and required assignment; successful completion of this presentation is required in order to student teach.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Candidate Presentation\u00a0<strong>occurs the spring semester prior to student teaching<\/strong> for most students. The assignment for the Candidate Presentation will be sent via Student Learning and Licensure. The components of the assignment are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Reflection on Racial Consciousness and Dispositions Review &#8212; <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write an essay addressing your racial consciousness and how it will inform your teaching. Complete the Professional Disposition Self-Assessment artifact and reflection form in SLL.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Student Teaching Goals &#8212; <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create 3 student teaching goals and determine a plan to meet those goals.<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Readiness to Student Teach &#8212; <\/strong>Write a statement (approximately 2-3 pages) about your readiness to student teach.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Presentation &#8212; <\/strong>Present (10 min) to a group of your peers and one Education faculty member on your readiness to student teach and one specific goal for student teaching.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><a id=\"stuteachapp2\" name=\"stuteachapp\"><\/a>Student Teaching Handbook<\/h3>\n<p>The Student Teaching Handbook can be accessed\u00a0<a title=\"Student Teaching Handbook\" href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/education\/stindex\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"contactinformation\"><\/a>Student Teaching Contact Information<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Student Teachers will provide their teaching schedule in response to an email from the Field Experience Program Coordinator.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 class=\"heading5\"><a id=\"dispositions\" name=\"dispositions\"><\/a><span class=\"heading4\"><span style=\"font-size: 1.17em; line-height: 19px;\">Professional Dispositions<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>In SLL, you will be asked to evaluate your <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/education\/files\/2021\/05\/DISPOSITION_CRITERIA_2021.pdf\">professional dispositions<\/a> at the end of student teaching.<\/p>\n<h3><a name=\"portfolio\"><\/a>Subject Matter Standards<\/h3>\n<p>Student teachers will upload evidence in SLL demonstrating that they&#8217;ve met their Subject Matter Standards. For each licensure area, students will upload at least three pieces of evidence and write a reflection on how that evidence demonstrates subject matter standards have been met. Students should think of compiling evidence to show that they&#8217;ve met the standard globally, not each individual substandard (although students can certainly reflect on specific substandards). If you don\u2019t see the course, click on the \u201cIn Progress\u201d button in the left hand side menu, and your courses should populate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">Click on \u201cCPAST Midterm Assessment&#8221; or &#8220;CPAST Final Assessment.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">You will see tabs at the top for student teacher, cooperating teacher, and college supervisor. Click on the tab for student teacher.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">The rubric you complete appears on the left side of the screen. Each element of the rubric is listed with the four possible ratings. Likely, you will receive ratings of 0-1 with a few 2\u2019s. To earn a \u201c2,\u201d student teachers must meet ALL criteria listed. As the midterm evaluation is formative, student teachers will use this feedback to set goals for the remainder of their student teaching placement. At the final CPAST evaluation, you should achieve predominately at the \u201cMeets Expectations\u201d level (a score of 2) or above.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">For each score, jot down a few notes in the rubric for evidence that supports your rating. This will be helpful during your three-way meeting with your host teacher and the college supervisor. You can use the \u201cCPAST Look Fors\u201d document (which can be found at the \u201cDirections and Resources\u201d tab at the top of the page) for likely sources of evidence for each criteria.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">Once you have completed all criteria in the rubric, submit your response. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">You will be able to view your host and college supervisor evaluations once they are BOTH submitted and the Director of Assessment has submitted the entire CPAST assessment.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">Click on the button &#8220;Assessments History&#8221; at the top of the screen. Find your &#8220;Mentor Teacher&#8221; name, click on that, and then select the tab &#8220;Cooperating Teacher&#8221; that populates in the new screen to see your cooperating teacher&#8217;s CPAST scores. Click &#8220;Cancel&#8221; to return to the previous screen.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"m_6020140058371691627gmail-docs-internal-guid-dc02f692-7fff-8524-649e-9a3a82409851\">Click on the button &#8220;Assessments History&#8221; at the top of the screen.
