class=\"site-panel__wysiwyg-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"t-content  site-section \" data-depth=\"0\" data-index=\"0\" data-autop=\"true\" data-name=\"column_content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Incoming shipments of hazardous substances must have the original\u00a0<strong>Manufacturer&#8217;s\u00a0Label<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not accept delivery of hazardous substances if the original manufacturer&#8217;s label(s) have been damaged, obscured or removed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not remove or deface these original labels while the original substance is still inside. \u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If the label becomes damaged then contact your Supervisor or the CHO for help in obtaining a replacement label.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As per HAZCOM 2012, Manufacturer&#8217;s Labels must include the\u00a0six required label elements\u00a0attached to the container:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Product Identifier:\u00a0<\/strong>This can be (but is not limited to) the chemical name, code number or batch number<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supplier\u00a0Info<\/strong> (Name, Address,\u00a0and Telephone Number)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Signal Word: \u00a0<\/strong>Used\u00a0to indicate the relative level of severity of the hazard and\u00a0alert the reader to a potential hazard on the label. There are only two words used as Signal Words, \u201cDanger\u201d and \u201cWarning.\u201d \u00a0Within a specific Hazard Class, \u201cDanger\u201d is used for the more severe hazards and \u201cWarning\u201d is used for the less severe hazards.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.osha.gov\/Publications\/HazComm_QuickCard_Pictogram.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pictogram(s)<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GHS_hazard_statement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hazard Statement(s)<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/GHS_precautionary_statements\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Precautionary Statement(s)<\/a>: \u00a0<\/strong>Precautionary Statements describe recommended measures (including PPE) that should be taken to minimize or prevent adverse effects resulting from exposure to the hazardous chemical or improper storage or handling.<b>\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>There are four types of Precautionary Statements:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prevention<\/strong> (guideline to minimize exposure; e.g., \u201cWear eye\/face protection&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Response<\/strong> (instructions in case of accidental spillage or exposure; emergency response; and first-aid)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Storage<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Disposal<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-grid__col -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-grid, .site-grid__wrapper -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-section__content -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!--.site-section__inner -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-section -->\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/article>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"site-panel__tab-content-2\" class=\"site-panel__tab-content  \" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<article class=\"panel panel-child panel--type-wysiwyg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-section site-panel__wysiwyg panel panel-wysiwyg site-section__bg--default\" data-depth=\"1\" data-js-panel=\"wysiwyg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-section__inner l-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-section__content \">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-grid site-grid__wrapper site-grid__wrapper-stagger\" data-depth=\"0\" data-name=\"columns\" data-livetext>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-grid__col\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-panel__wysiwyg-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"t-content  site-section \" data-depth=\"0\" data-index=\"0\" data-autop=\"true\" data-name=\"column_content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>You Do Not Need to Label a Container if:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You are the only person using it, AND<\/li>\n<li>You do not leave the container unattended, AND<\/li>\n<li>The container is emptied at the end of your day, shift, or work procedure (whichever time frame is shortest).<\/li>\n<li>Such a container is called an &#8220;Immediate Use&#8221; container.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>You DO Need to Label a Container if:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You leave the container unattended.<\/li>\n<li>For example, you pour oil-based paint\/paint thinner from the original manufacturer&#8217;s container into a new container and then leave the area to take your morning break. lunch, etc.\n<ul>\n<li>Such a container is now considered a Secondary Container and so must be labeled appropriately.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-grid__col -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-grid, .site-grid__wrapper -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-section__content -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!--.site-section__inner -->\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><!-- .site-section -->\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/article>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"site-panel__tab-content-3\" class=\"site-panel__tab-content  \" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<article class=\"panel panel-child panel--type-wysiwyg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-section site-panel__wysiwyg panel panel-wysiwyg site-section__bg--default\" data-depth=\"1\" data-js-panel=\"wysiwyg\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-section__inner l-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-section__content \">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-grid site-grid__wrapper site-grid__wrapper-stagger\" data-depth=\"0\" data-name=\"columns\" data-livetext>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-grid__col\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"site-panel__wysiwyg-content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"t-content  site-section \" data-depth=\"0\" data-index=\"0\" data-autop=\"true\" data-name=\"column_content\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul>\n<li class=\"p2\"><strong>When you transfer a chemical from its original container to another container<\/strong> (e.g., squirt bottle, non-original screw-top bottle), the container you transfer it into is called a <strong>Secondary Container<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"p2\">Secondary Chemical Container labels\u00a0must include (1) the name of the container&#8217;s contents, and (2) the Hazard Class(es) of the container&#8217;s substance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Use one of these two options to label your Secondary Chemical Containers:<br class=\"none\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\n<div class=\"jwl_one_half\"><strong>Option 1:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Name:<\/strong> Write out entire name of substance<br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Hazard Class:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u2022 Write out the substance&#8217;s Hazard Classes (e.g., &#8220;Corrosive&#8221;)\u00a0 \u00a0 OR<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u2022 Use the correct GHS Pictogram sticker (use the <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.stolaf.edu\/ehs\/safety-data-sheets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SDS<\/a> to determine the proper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.osha.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/publications\/OSHA3491QuickCardPictogram.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GHS pictograms<\/a>; Supervisors have GHS Pictogram Stickers).<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div class=\"jwl_one_half last\"><strong>Option 2:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 <strong>Name:<\/strong> Use <strong>Acronyms<\/strong> (e.g., EtOH for Ethanol), or symbols to label your container.<br \/>\n&#8211; Post a highly visible <strong>Chemical Abbreviation Key<\/strong>\u00a0that lists the chemical name of the associated acronym, or symbol. \u00a0 Note: this key must be posted in each separated work\u00a0room.<br \/>\n&#8211;
