US News and World Reports ranks colleges on a number of areas. This past year they combined some to develop a measure of efficiency. The measure is, total operating budget expenditures per student. divided by the total points in the USNWR ranking system.
As can be seen in the table at the top of the page, St. Olaf is number six in the nation among national liberal arts colleges, and the most highly ranked over all. Combined with our number two rank in undergraduate teaching, this means that the college produces a tremendous experience very efficiently. And, that means that the total program is financially more sustainable than it could be, by far.
