St Olaf is moving forward with a thermal storage tank (TST).
This 2 million gallon tank will hold cold water that is used for air conditioning and the de-humidification of our buildings.\u00a0 We will make the chilled water at night and use it during the daytime.
By using this tank, we will shift some of our electrical use from the daytime to the nighttime which is a cheaper rate and will also level out demand usage of electricity.

This tank is located straight north of the power plant between it and Thorson Hall in the hillside with piping laid under the road.\u00a0 Inside the Madson Power Plant we will add an additional 800 ton chiller, heat exchangers and pumps to support this new system.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
